Curriculum Statement

As a Church School, our curriculum is underpinned by our Christian Values of HopeCommunityForgivenessTrustLove and Respect.

At Batley Parish, we develop the whole child, mind, body and heart, through an inspiring and enriching curriculum, which provides a variety of experiences within and beyond our locality. Inspirational texts are the bedrock of our English curriculum. Teachers are supported by specialist organisations in order to deliver an expert level curriculum in all subjects. This fulfils the requirements of the National Curriculum whilst offering unique opportunities which are essential for our children.

We aim for all our pupils to leave Batley Parish as life-long, resilient and aspirational learners. Children will be equipped with the skills they need to succeed in life and to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Our Curriculum Drivers

Hope – Our aim is to ensure that all children reach their full potential. The broad curriculum at Batley Parish will strive to open children’s eyes to new possibilities firing their ambitions and aspirations for the future. We provide children with experiences and opportunities that they have not encountered before. The opportunity to excel in different areas, visitors to school and the knowledge of different jobs support academic achievement and will enable our pupils to achieve economic wellbeing in the future.

Community – Building on the Christian value of koinonia (shared burden), our curriculum will enable children and parents to work together to make a difference to our school, local and global communities. Children will understand our British Values and consequently are responsible citizens and respectful of the diverse population of our locality.

Self – Our curriculum develops physical and mental wellbeing teaching children to love, trust and forgive themselves and others. In order to take advantage of the varied opportunities that the modern world offers, our curriculum promotes healthy living, resilience and encourages children to manage risk through exploring and having fun.
