Working With Families
We believe that strong relationships with families are fundamental to giving children the best possible start. Our partnership with families begins before children start with us and continues throughout their Early Years journey.
Beginning the Journey Together
We begin building relationships through welcome meetings, home visits and Stay and Play sessions. These opportunities help us to get to know each child and family, understand children’s experiences, interests and needs, and support a positive transition into our Early Years Unit.
An Ongoing Partnership
We value regular communication with parents and carers and encourage families to share their children’s experiences, interests and achievements with us. This helps us to build a fuller picture of each child and ensures that home and school work together to support their learning and development.Throughout the year, we provide opportunities for families to be involved in their child’s Early Years experience through Stay and Play sessions, parent meetings, workshops and shared learning opportunities.
Supporting Learning at Home
We help families understand how they can support learning through simple, meaningful experiences at home. This includes sharing books, talking together, developing vocabulary, practising phonics where appropriate, exploring number in everyday life and encouraging independence and self-care.We also work with families to support children’s wider development and well-being, including areas such as communication and language and oral health, signposting and connecting families with local services where appropriate.
Working Together
Parents and carers know their children best. By sharing knowledge and working together, we can provide greater consistency between home and school and respond effectively to children’s individual strengths and needs.
Together, we build strong relationships around every child, ensuring that every family feels welcomed, valued and part of our Early Years community.
